Event Details
Morven Park’s new lecture series “Food For Thought” introduces farmers of Loudoun County to local residents who have an interest in good, healthy and sustainable foods. Different farmers will be highlighted at each event, who will speak about current issues and historic trends in agriculture, as well as their own passion for producing high-quality, healthy and local foods. Each event will include a tasting of produce direct from the farm and an opportunity to tour the historic mansion and farm grounds of Morven Park.

Warren Howell of Allder School Berries will lead a discussion on berry production in Loudoun County, its impact on land tenure, and how berry planting can help save valuable energy and resources.

Watch a screening of the documentary film “GROW!” which looks into the developing ‘back to the land’ movement among young farmers. The film explores the choices made by a group of young people in Georgia to become farmers and live off the land. The evening will begin with a tour of the Governor’s Mansion, once the heart of Morven Park Farm.

Visitors should enter Morven Park through the gate on Old Waterford Road. Parking is in the Visitor Parking Lot, on the left about a ½ mile after entering the property. From here visitors can walk through the gardens to the Mansion. The entrance door is on the north side of the Mansion and is marked with a sign that says “Admissions.” Accessible parking is located closer to the mansion. Continue past the Visitor Parking Lot and follow signs for Accessible Parking.
